Session Studio
Split sheets and credits at the source: founded by Niclas Molinder with Max Martin and Björn Ulvaeus, partnered with SoundCloud — capture who wrote what in the room, so royalties route correctly later.
- Best for
- Split sheets and credits captured at the session. Artists, producers and songwriting teams who regularly collaborate and need one shared record of audio versions, personnel credits, metadata and agreed composition splits.
- Skip if
- You never co-write — less to capture. You work entirely alone, already have an effective catalog-management workflow or need a service that registers compositions and collects royalties. Session Studio organizes information but does not replace a PRO, publishing administrator, distributor or legally reviewed split agreement.
- First move
- Log splits for your last collaboration today. Create a project during the writing or recording session, invite every contributor and record their legal names, roles and identifiers. Propose songwriting splits while everyone is present, secure each collaborator’s approval and export the completed label copy before distribution.
- Watch out
- Its split feature records songwriter percentages, not master ownership, producer points, fees or neighboring-rights shares. Approved information can help document an agreement, but collaborators must still register matching splits with their PROs and publishers. The workflow becomes less effective if contributors refuse to create accounts or keep their profiles updated.
