Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Privacy is the floor everything else at Inkt stands on. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain.
Who we are
Inkt (“Inkt,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Inkt LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, 1615 House Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001, USA. We make software that lets producers and music educators build an AI “echo” trained on their own teaching, which their students can then ask questions. We also publish the Production Map, a free guide to the resources musicians use at every stage of their work.
For the personal information described here, we are the data controller. If you have any questions, contact us at privacy@inkt.ai.
What this policy covers
- Our website at inkt.ai, including the early-access and contact forms.
- The Production Map at inkt.ai/production-map.
- The Inkt app, for instructors who build echoes and for learners who use them.
Information you give us
- Forms on our website. When you request early access or contact us, we collect your name and email address, plus what you choose to add: a link to your work, how you teach, the reason you’re writing, and your message. We also record the page you sent the form from.
- Production Map updates. If you enter your email on the Production Map (to read what users say about a resource, or to hear about updates), we collect your email address, a short summary of the map preferences you set (what you make, your career stage, budget, and region), and where on the map you signed up (the form, the stage, section or resource you were viewing, and the date). We store this on your contact record with our email provider, Brevo, so we can send you resources that fit. We email you a link to confirm. We only send you map updates once you’ve confirmed, and every update has an unsubscribe link.
- Your account. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, whether you’re joining as an instructor or a learner, and your email marketing preference. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never visible to us. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and basic Google profile information. You can also add a profile photo.
- Your echo and its material. If you’re an instructor, we store your echo’s settings (its name, tone, areas of expertise, and boundaries) and the material you add to it: documents, text, audio, video, and images.
- Google Drive. If you choose to import material from Google Drive, we ask Google for read-only access, and we store the access token and the email address of the connected Google account so we can fetch the files you pick. You can disconnect at any time.
- Questions you ask an echo. We process your questions and the echo’s answers to generate a response. Your history of questions and answers is saved in your own browser, not in your Inkt account.
- Messages. Messages, replies, and reactions you send to other people in the app are stored on our servers so we can deliver them and show them in your conversations.
- Invitations. If you invite someone (for example an instructor inviting students), we collect their name and email address to send the invitation. Please only invite people who would expect to hear from you.
- Payments. If you buy a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We keep your Stripe customer reference, your card brand, last four digits, and expiry date, and a record of your plan, charges, and receipts.
Information we collect automatically
- Website analytics, with your consent. On our website and the Production Map, analytics tools (Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, and Mixpanel) run only if you click “Accept” in our cookie banner. On the Production Map they record which stages and resources you open and which resource sites you visit, but never what you type into the search box. They tell us which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are, and what devices and browsers they use. You can change your choice at any time from the link in the footer.
- App analytics, with your consent. If you agree when the app asks, we use Mixpanel to understand how the product is used: which screens you visit and which actions you take (for example starting a chat, sending an invitation, or upgrading a plan). This data is linked to your account, including your name and email address. We don’t send Mixpanel the text of your questions or messages. You can turn this off at any time in the app’s Privacy preferences.
- Service logs. Our servers keep short-lived technical logs to run and secure the service.
The Production Map
You can use the Production Map without an account. Searching and filtering happen entirely in your browser: we don’t receive or store what you search for. The preferences you set (such as your genre, career stage, budget, and region) are saved only in your browser. Links to the resources on the map go directly to those websites, which have their own privacy policies.
Cookies and similar technologies
Essential storage keeps the site and app working: for example remembering your cookie choice, keeping you signed in, saving your Production Map preferences, and saving your echo chat history on your device. Analytics cookies on our website are set only if you accept them. We don’t use advertising cookies. If you decline, we don’t load those tools.
How we use your information
- To provide the app, including creating and running echoes, delivering messages, and sending invitations.
- To respond to you and to manage early-access requests and support.
- To send account emails, such as verification codes and password resets.
- To send you a receipt when you submit a form on our website.
- To send product news, marketing, and Production Map updates, only if you’ve asked for them and confirmed your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To process payments and keep billing records.
- To understand how our website and app are used, and to improve them.
- To check and improve the quality of echo answers.
- To keep our service secure and prevent abuse.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your material or your conversations to train AI models, and we use our AI providers’ business services under terms that don’t allow them to train their models on it.
How AI processing works
To create an echo and answer questions, we send the relevant material, the question, and the echo’s instructions to an AI model. Depending on the task, that model is run by Google (Gemini), by Anthropic (Claude), or by Inkt on our own cloud infrastructure. For videos, we send the file to Google to be analysed and delete it from Google’s service once processing is done.
To keep answers accurate, we may log questions and answers with an AI monitoring provider and review them to find and fix mistakes.
Echo answers are generated automatically and can be wrong. Instructors control what their echo is based on and whether it’s visible to students.
Legal bases (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract, to provide your account, your echoes, messaging, and paid plans.
- Consent, for website analytics cookies, app analytics, marketing emails, and connecting Google Drive. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests, to respond to enquiries, keep the service secure, and improve the quality of echo answers.
- Legal obligation, for example keeping billing records for tax purposes.
Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers who help us run Inkt, under agreements that limit them to acting on our instructions:
- Amazon Web Services, for hosting, storage, databases, sign-in, and running our own AI models.
- Google, for AI processing (Gemini), Google sign-in and Drive import (if you use them), website analytics with your consent (Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics), and an internal log of sign-ups and form submissions (Google Sheets).
- Anthropic, for AI processing (Claude).
- LangChain (LangSmith), for monitoring the quality of AI answers.
- Brevo, for account emails, invitations, and our mailing lists.
- Mixpanel, for product analytics on our website, the Production Map and the app, with your consent.
- Stripe, for payments.
Other sharing
Inside the app, what you share is visible to the people you share it with: an instructor’s echo answers the students it’s made available to, and messages are visible to the people in that conversation.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users and our service, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy will continue to apply. We do not sell data to anyone.
Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. In practice, account information, echo material, and messages are kept while your account is open. Early-access and contact submissions are kept while we’re in touch with you about early access. Service logs are deleted after about a month. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.
You can ask to delete your account from the app’s settings. You have 48 hours to cancel the request. After that, we delete your account and the material associated with it within 30 days. Copies in our encrypted backups are deleted as those backups expire.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email privacy@inkt.ai and we’ll respond within the time the law allows. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If you’re a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete or correct it, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We don’t sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined in California law.
Security
We encrypt information in transit, encrypt the files you upload at rest, restrict access to the people who need it, and use other safeguards to protect your information. We are extending encryption at rest to all of our databases. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe and will notify you if something goes wrong as the law requires.
International transfers
Inkt is hosted in the United States, and some of our service providers process information in other countries. If you’re in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, your information is transferred to the United States. Where we do this, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Children
Inkt is not directed to children under 16, and you must be at least 16 to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We’ll post the new version here and update the “last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
