- Collecting publishing royalties before you can justify Songtrust's fee. Independent songwriters who want publishing administration without an upfront fee or lengthy commitment, particularly those generating royalties internationally or from live performances.
- Skip if
- You already run a publishing admin — check overlap first. You need highly responsive, hands-on support, want the lowest possible commission or already have a publisher administering the same compositions. It may also be unsuitable if you are uncomfortable granting another company authority to register and manage your works across multiple societies.
- First move
- Register your back catalog the week you join. Audit your existing PRO, MLC and publishing registrations before joining. Confirm every writer’s ownership split, then upload a small, clearly documented portion of your catalog first and verify that Sentric registers it accurately before transferring everything.
- Watch out
- If you later switch administrators, catalog transfers take time — keep your own works database from day one. The advertised agreement rolls in 28-day periods, but removing registrations from global societies can take much longer. Avoid overlapping claims with your PRO, MLC account or another administrator. Review its sync authority carefully: a placement procured by Sentric carries a substantially higher commission than its standard 20% administration rate.
