Sweet Relief Musicians Fund
US charity providing financial assistance to career musicians and music workers facing illness, disability or age-related crisis — medical bills, insurance premiums, essential living costs. Open application, since 1993.
- Best for
- US musicians hit by medical or financial crisis. U.S.-based career musicians and industry workers with verifiable professional income who need help covering essential expenses during a serious health or financial crisis.
- Skip if
- Not in crisis — file it away and hope you never need it. You are a hobbyist, earn less than half your income from music, lack documentation of a serious health condition or want funding for recording, touring, marketing or other career expenses. Exceptions apply for retired or semi-retired workers aged 65 and older.
- First move
- Know it exists; application requires documented need. Review the eligibility rules, then gather medical documentation, income and bank records, career evidence, outstanding bills and the exact amount requested before completing the application.
- Watch out
- Approval is not guaranteed and depends on available funds. Sweet Relief may request sensitive financial documents, and assistance is generally paid directly to medical providers, landlords or other billers rather than given as unrestricted cash.
